At the African School of Governance, we are shaping a new era of leadership in Africa through a world-class public policy education, innovative research, and dynamic policy engagement focused on Africa’s unique experiences.
We aim to address the continent’s pressing governance challenges by equipping emerging leaders with the mindsets, skills and knowledge required for effective leadership.
ASG distinguishes itself from its peers by four key features: Mindset-focus; emphasising the importance of a worldview and value system as a driving force of societal transformation, Pan-African student and faculty recruitment, ensuring diversity and inclusion across the continent; a genuinely African curriculum rooted in Africa’s history and experiences; hands-on practical learning through case studies and fieldwork; and a lifelong learning ecosystem that supports leaders at every stage of their career. By combining education, research, and policy-making, ASG strengthens its role as a powerful knowledge base for leadership and governance across Africa.
We will offer a range of educational programmes to cater to various stages of a leader’s career: from a full-time, two-year Master’s Degree in Public Administration, to general executive courses lasting 2-3 weeks, and a range of leadership programmes for young leaders and vibrant veterans of governance spanning four to six weeks.
Research at ASG focuses on developing practical, home-grown solutions for Africa, drawing from the continent's history and political economy while promoting pan-African and regional integration. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, our research directly informs policymaking and ensures Africa's voice is represented on the global stage.
ASG is committed to strengthening the policy implementation capabilities of African leaders. By bringing together expert researchers and policymakers, ASG’s social innovation incubator will serve as the neexus for addressing emerging public policy issues and developing solutions beyond traditional government structures.
ASG’s vision is to nurture a prosperous and peaceful Africa where purpose-driven leaders are equipped with the mindsets, knowledge, and skills to drive sustainable development for all.
ASG’s mission is to nurture leaders to drive Africa’s sustainable development by providing innovative public policy education, cutting-edge research, and a platform for policy engagement that fosters transformative governance tailored to the continent’s unique values and opportunities.
